In 2025 and 2026 I worked on a project in collaboration with local communities in the Bunowen and Carrowniskey river and Roonah Lagoon catchments, and with the support of the River Basin Management Service (formerly LAWPRO). The project consists of artworks to raise awareness of water quality and the action that might be needed to maintain the Blue Dot status of these waterways.

Meetings were held with stakeholders and residents to discuss their concerns around possible intervention activity that might help ensure the detrimental effects of climate change and weather events do not adversely affect water quality.

The artworks are intended to support and highlight, in a visual way, this important work.

Students in the Killeen National School and Louisburgh National School made blue dot mosaics in recycled jar lids, and these have been combined into a large display in a local bookshop.

Slate circles with blue mosaic are being placed around the locality with QR codes linking to the information about the Blue Dot to the Sea project. There will also be an information board next to the final mosaic piece at Scotts Island site, providing information and links to the Blue Dot to the Sea project.
